Natsu - Soul Calibur V by PinkJusticeCosplay Natsu - Soul Calibur V by PinkJusticeCosplay
About the costume:
This was my first major cosplay outfit I ever made. It was also my first leather project. I am so happy with the way it turned out.

The corset, tassets, chest strap, shin guards, gauntlets, shoulder piece and hairpiece were all made from leather. I cut out and hand tooled 56 feathers. The ones on the upper layers are riveted and the ones on the bottom row are glued with a leather glue. The corset was wet formed on a mannequin and the shin guards were two pieces sewn together and then wet formed. I did some slight wet forming on all the pieces, but not much. Instead of cutting a curved strap, the chest strap was a straight piece that was curved slightly by wetting it and then bending it into place. I used leather dye for the browns and blacks and acrylic paints for the grays, pinks and golds. I also hand dyed with fabric dye the feathers on the back of the costume.

The bodysuit and tabi were modified from zentai outfit I bought to save on time. I am glad I did this, it worked really well. I hand sewed the fishnet neck which I destroyed a pair of stockings for.

The swords and sheaths are those plastic kids katanas you can buy anywhere. The grip and sheath were wrapped in leather and painted with acrylics. The hilt is molded from sculpey and details were added with pieces of foam sheets. The blade was spray painted with a metallic silver.

The wig.....this was my first wig. It was way more complicated than I ever imagined. The wefts worked wonderfully, but the wig was styled the morning of. I plan on replacing this wig in the future, but it worked out well enough for the weekend.

I had lots of help and advice from my two pals:

All costumes were made by the individual wearing them!

Now that looks like one super ambitious cosplay. I'd call that a job extremely well done.

Hiya, i am the admin of :iconfighting-games-elite: and plan to organize an art contest there for jan or feb 2013 where group members have to do photomanipulations related to fighting games and their characters. I thought this Juri Han photo from you might be useful for it. So my question is, can i make it avaiable for the contest? If artists will use your photo, they have to credit you and also the cosplayer of course.

Greets and a good day, Ray

Hello Ray,
I am the cosplayer in these photos, not the photographer. I am fine with it as long as the photo manipulations are tasteful and don't allow sexually explicit or demoralizing entries. However, you may want to ask Jayce Williams, the photographer at www.facebook.com/Animazeguy because I don't feel comfortable giving permission to use his photos without his consent.

You must have done a lot of copy and pastes today because my cosplay is Natsu from Soul Calibur V, not Juri Han from Street Fighter. :)
Thank you for asking, I am flattered that you want to use my cosplay for your contest.

arrgh yes indeed, i send the message to around 20 photographers or cosplayers yesterday, the first was a Juri cosplayer and i forgot that i mentioned the name in the message...copied it..looked for photos which could be interesting for such a contest..and boom..got 10 replies of confused cosplayers/photographers who wondered why i mentioned Juri Han ;-) It was the fail of the day ^^

I would not allow any manipulations like sexualizing them etc anyway, what i had in mind was that an artisat, adds as example more elements from SoulCalibur, like a background.

Currently i can`t login on facebook because right another debacle about lost passwords and my own account not made by myself because i am not the biggest FB fan but well..long and boring story. *cough*

np, asking is my standard, on my dA groups or websites nothing happens without the knodlege and permission of the people behind art/photos

Haha, I figured it was a mistake no worries. I will ask Jayce tonight and get back with you. The contest sounds pretty neat I can't wait to see what people come up with.

Me too

I organized a contest in the summer about coloring line arts of other artists which resulted in around 40 colorations, many of them damn good. A photoman. contest could agin be interesting for the group members and result in nice images as well

Of course! Thank you for asking. :D

I wanted to do a costume that was comfortable enough that I could do more daring poses. I really wanted to use my kung fu and gymnastic skills, so I am going to try to get Ty Lee done by March. I am excited about cosplaying her because I feel like she is a lot like me and so I will have an easy time getting into character and her outfit isn't all that complicated. I just need to set some time and money aside and go down to jo ann's and get started....I should do that this weekend.

My friend :iconxavietta: wants to do Xena, so I may be doing Sai version Gabrielle at Florida Supercon.

I have also wanted to make scale mail for quite awhile, so for next dragon con I am going to cosplay as Bethany from Dragon Age II, in her Grey Warden Armor. However, I see they are slowly releasing Dragon Age III details, so if I am ambitious and pay off some bills, I might attempt a costume from the third installment.

I am going to wear Natsu again because I have fun cosplaying her and I will have an improved wig by that time. Maybe this year people will recognize my character will not keep calling me Taki. Haha!

TL:DR
Natsu & Ty Lee - MegaCon

Sai Gabrielle (Xena) -Florida Supercon

Dragon Con:
Friday -Ty Lee (Avatar: Last Airbender)
Sat -Grey Warden Bethany (Dragon Age II)
Sun -Natsu

That is awesome sauce, I cannot wait to see what you come up with. If you don't mind me asking, what style of Kung Fu do you know? I have played the first one, but I didn't get too far into the game, is it really good?

I take Wushu. I have only been training for a little over a year, but I love it! Hopefully, I get to go to China next year with my sifu. I have been saving for it all year.

Dragon Age is by far my favorite game, but my preference is for RPGs. I am a sucker for good story-telling. Dragon Age has phenomenal story, character development and a free roaming atmosphere. The second game is not as good as the first. There is huge lack of exploration, repetitive dungeons and there is not as much character customization. However, I believe the story is still worth it and the battle system is improved quite a lot. The downloadable contents are freaking fantastic, especially Awakening which is basically a whole game on its own. Bioware is taking all complaints and suggestions into account for the third game, so I hope they can blow I and II out of the water.

As a side note I want to cosplay Dragon Age because not only do I love the game, but there is already a good cosplay group going and wearing armor makes you feel like a bad ass.

I would love to take Wushu, I take Tai Chi and Kali Martial Arts and they are very fun. I hope you have a great time in China, I would love to go there sometime and visit.

I might give it a try, cause I know a lot of my friends who has played it say it's a fantastic game. Bioware has done some awesome games in the past, so I am pretty sure that they can blow them away.

That's awesome sauce and a great attitude.

My temple also teaches Tai-Chi. In the future I hope to take those classes as well, but you know, money :/. Heh. Thank you for the support and the questions. It was fun answering them. When you finish Dragon Age, let me know what you thought of it! :D
